Research and Data
What is Research Based?
Research-based textbooks are those that 1) make use of research on student learning to guide the books’ sequence and instructional activities, 2) field-test early versions of lessons and units and revise materials based on the feedback, 3) provide data on the impact of the final version of the materials on student learning.

Bridges is based on research, refined by field experiences, and measured by student growth.
Research Literature
Bridges draws upon a range of sources including current learning theory based on brain research, Piaget's Theory of the Learning Process, and Vygotsky's Theory of Learning. This research is reflected throughout the program and is the foundation of instructional techniques and strategies for the classroom teacher. See sampling of Supporting Research »
Field Experiences
Bridges authors bring to their writing many years as classroom teachers during which they have applied research, tested ideas, and developed their own methods. As they create the curriculum the materials are field tested in a variety of classroom settings over a period of two years. In addition, each publication benefits from a team of editorial consultants comprised of teachers, curriculum specialists, and math educators.
Student Achievement
Students using Bridges have performed well across a range of classroom settings and demographic profiles. More »
